What size grip socks does my toddler need?

Stompies size guide: S 12 to 18 months, M 18 to 24 months, L 2 to 4 years

Grip socks only do their job if they fit well. Too small and they're uncomfortable; too big and the grip ends up in the wrong place. Here's how to get it right.

Start with their age

Stompies come in three sizes:

Size Age
S 12–18 months
M 18–24 months
L 2–4 years

Age is a good starting point, but babies' feet vary a lot. If your little one has chunky or long feet for their age, go for the next size up.

Between sizes? Go up

Children's feet grow quickly in the first few years, so a pair that's a touch roomy will last longer. The elastic strap over the top of the foot keeps a slightly bigger pair snug, so it won't slip around.

How to check the fit

  • Heel: the heel of the sock should sit at the back of their heel, not halfway up the ankle or under the foot.
  • Toes: toes should lie flat, not curled or squashed at the end.
  • Strap: snug enough to stay on, but it shouldn't leave deep marks when you take them off.
  • Grip: the rubber grip should sit flat on the floor when they stand.

When to check again

Check the fit every couple of months. Signs it's time for the next size: toes reaching the end, red marks after wearing, or the sock slipping down at the heel.
